Dear TAF,

At this year's 7th Annual Leadership Breakfast, I focused my speech TAF in the next ten years. As I began to write my speech, I couldn't help but reflect on that beautiful evening in the spring of 1997 when I stood in front of 30 anxious supporters ready to lay out the vision of TAF. Heads nodded in agreement as I talked about the digital divide, our technology education pipeline model and goals for our students. It was an exhilarating moment that I honestly didn't think I'd ever experience again. Well, I was wrong.

TechStart Summer Camp 2008: Registration for July/August courses begins April 7.

Teachers wanted: TAF Academy is hiring teachers and an office manager/registrar.

Standing in front of over 400 people on the morning of March 25, 2008, and laying out the new vision for TAF will forever be another special moment for me. It was special because we accomplished everything I presented in 1997. It was special because after three long years of building our TAF Academy model, I was finally able to announce where the first TAF Academy would be located and what the first year at the school would look like for our inaugural cohort. It was special because once again the heads nodded in agreement and I knew we were headed in the right direction.

Here's a special shout out to the folks who attended the breakfast. Thanks for making it a remarkable morning!

Speaking of TAF Academy, last week a colleague and I attended a teacher recruitment fair at the Tacoma Dome. I'll have to say I felt like a street vendor as I gently shouted "math/science, middle/high school" in the aisles when candidates passed by. We lined up six solid candidates for interviews, which gives us a great head start on hiring teachers for the Academy. A special thanks to the Federal Way Public Schools folks for showing us the ropes and making sure we had everything we needed.

Hey, would you like to be a part of a unique investment opportunity that has unbelievable returns? You have a once in a lifetime opportunity to invest in a TAF Academy graduating class by joining our Golden Key Club. You'll receive among other things, invitations to special events, regular progress reports and the unique opportunity to say you helped 50 kids graduate high school on time and go to college!

I want to pay tribute to the tremendous support and vision from AT&T. They are a new partner for us, and they have graciously given us a broad technology grant through the AT&T Foundation designed to improve the quality of all of our after-school programs. Let me share the details with you in this press release. Later this year, AT&T Wireless will also be helping us out by sponsoring the TechStart Summer Camp. (More details on that in our next newsletter!)

Thanks for listening and thanks for your support,
