Schematics

The Community Learning Space (CLS) is a unique kind of community center where education and 21st century skills is the focus. Each floor in the CLS has a specific purpose.

First Floor

The first floor contains the multipurpose room. This room is much like a traditional community center multipurpose room in that it has a commercial kitchen and plenty of space for events. Community members will be able to rent this space for events such as weddings, birthday parties, nonprofit fundraisers, etc.

Students from TAF's TechStart program will come to the multipurpose room for a nutritious snack before they start class.

Second Floor

The second floor is the hub of the building where education programming happens. There are four learning labs where TAF will offer TechStart classes and provide professional develop opportunities for public school teachers in using 21st century tools and methodologies. The learning labs will also be available for community organizations and businesses to offer classes and hold meetings.

The academic learning space is a place students can drop in to get help with their homework, do research using one of the five workstations, or play educational games like chess. TAF's community partners will offer structured academic support for K-12 students.

The third floor is where TAF's staff resides. Here is where we'll develop our educational methodologies, then we'll take them to the learning labs to test them.
